We have ducked into Spain for a couple of days. It was actually hot yesterday. The photos of the beach and Restaurant wall....are about 5 odd minutes walk from our apartment. It was warm and sunny in the afternoon and we were regretting not changing out of the jeans and into shorts etc. but as you can see...by night fall the temperature dropped and the rain did fall. Not for long though...and anyway it was time to find a tapas bar for a bit of refueling.
'Had a great couple of hours in a fantastic little place and shared our table with a Mexican family on holidays too. Really lovely people.
The bar almost butted up against a majestic cathedral...These really old cities amaze me, how higgledy piggledy everything is...how narrow cobbled lanes open up onto huge public squares...or a huge cathedral suddenly appears.
So we had our tapas watching the rain drops roll off of the awnings, people diving into the sanctuary of the cathedral to escape the rain and listening to the bells strike the quarter hour....nibbling on delectable morsels.
After walking around all afternoon again and toting a little wee bit of shopping.... and the weather still looking a bit unstable, we decided against walking back. After much research with our little map and the detailed instructions on anything 'San Sebastian' given to us by our host...we found a bus stop and yes...the right bus too...how amazing are we?...as our Spanish is worse than our French. So off we go, pretty proud of ourselves like middle aged backpackers. Trouble was in our triumph and smugness...yep no idea where to actually get off...and yep..got off totally lost. We did find a little grocers while stumbling about and aided by our appalling Spanish...we did get help...we were actually around the corner from our accommodation...tonight however...TAXIIIIIII.
